…keep going and end up immortalised on the internet. Today I was in an audience listening to a motivational speaker. He talked about how hard it could be to stop doing things you knew, from experience, didn’t work. He gave this example, which circulated the internet several years ago, of the efforts to remove a car from a harbour:
A crane arrrived to remove the car. Looks a bit precarious doesn’t it? The location was a small town near Galway on the west coast of Ireland. Guess what happens next…
Of course! In goes the crane-truck thing. Oh dear. So what do you do now? Naturally – you try again, but with a bigger crane-truck thing…
First get the car out. Easy with that big green monster. The first truck should be no problem, right?
See? Here it comes; easy does it lads or it might…
…fail! Oops!
So what did I learn from this motivational session? Don’t be bloody-minded at work.
Oh and photoshop has come a long way in 7 years; these pictures were taken by local resident Nicholas Griffin. But not the last one. For those not reading this in a state of bleary-eyed sleepiness, you may notice a couple of ‘issues’ with the last one…
